Partner Barbara Bender heads Baydaline & Jacobsen's estate planning and probate law practice, which emphasizes asset protection and enhancement. Ms. Bender's practice area also includes the establishment of conservatorships and guardianships, and probate administration and litigation. Ms. Bender has assisted hundreds of individuals and families in the creation of their unique estate plans, insuring that her clients' intentions are clearly stated and followed, while conserving the family assets by minimizing and eliminating probate fees and federal estate taxes to the full extent allowed by applicable regulations. In addition to the preparation and implementation of estate plans utilizing grantor revocable trusts, Ms. Bender has the ability and experience to assist her many clients in the complex areas of trust administration and trust litigation should the need arise. Of necessity, both trust administration and probate litigation have also given Ms. Bender the ability to increase and utilize her mediation skills to the best interests of her clients. Ms. Bender also has considerable expertise in the creation, administration and implementation of Special Needs Trusts, both pursuant to state statutes and court authority, as well as on behalf of individual clients. She finds working with families with members who have special needs and special disabilities both rewarding and challenging. Ms. Bender received her law degree from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento in 1991 and is an active member of the Estate Planning and Probate Sections of the State Bar of California, and the Sacramento County Bar Association. She has been a long standing faculty member in post secondary education, teaching wills, trust, and estate taxation as an adjunct professor of the Justice School of Law in Roseville. Ms. Bender has lectured in the Department of Procedural Law of MTI Western Business College. She also lectures for the National Paralegal Institute, the National Business Institute and the California State Bar Continuing Education Division, in advance continuing education seminars.
